Course overview

This session will include an overview of clinically relevant mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance that may be reported routinely by microbiology laboratories. Susceptibility test methods and associated limitations for detecting mecA, ESBLs, and carbapenemases will be discussed. Approaches to reporting discordant molecular and phenotypic susceptibility test results will be presented.
