Course overview

Competitive athletes and weekend warriors are no strangers to knee injuries. These injuries are not foreign to researchers either. In fact, the anterior cruciate ligament-deficient knee has been described in the medical literature since the early 1900s. Since that time, the medical community has devoted a significant amount of time and attention to anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. This includes prevention as well as surgical repair, which may result in the use of a functional brace. This course reviews the history of ACL bracing, current guidelines, and considerations for recommending functional knee braces for athletic individuals.
