Disease Management and Pharmacology for Patients with Diabetes
Tracking # 20-859571
Course overview
While the medical team is instrumental in educating patients about diabetes and prescribing treatment, rehabilitation professionals play a role in empowering patients to manage their medications, modify their lifestyle, and manage their disease. The interventions of rehabilitation professionals become even more critical when working with older adults, especially those with comorbidities or conditions that influence their ability to self-manage their disease. In this course, physical, occupational, and speech therapy professionals will learn the standard pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management of diabetes, how to identify if a patient is struggling with self-management, and how to support their patients in self-management.
