Course overview

This class will include a plethora of Infection Control information for massage therapists. It will include an update of the COVID-19 Pandemic; including a description of the virus- SARS-CoV-2, mode of transmission, symptoms, prevention and treatment. Students will be able to understand how infections become established in a healthcare setting, chain infection. We will discuss principles of infection control: standard precautions, hand, and respiratory hygiene, cough etiquette, personal protective equipment, PPE, social distancing, personal hygiene and cleaning and disinfecting procedures; identifying cleaning and disinfecting products for specific facilities area in a massage workplace and analyzing guidelines for policies and procedures of: client informed consent, session scheduling, health screening, client arrival, high-risk client and follow up procedure. This class will explain how to obtain and register: temperature and screen for sign and symptoms; detail different types of testing for COVID-19; explain how to response to an employees or client positive health screening for COVID-19.
