Course overview

The presentation provides an overview of pediatric palliative and hospice care, including the history and differences between the two levels of care. It explores the definition and practical application of concurrent care legislation and its impact on children and families, as well as exploring challenges and barriers that influence timing of pediatric concurrent referrals. In addition, this presentation provides recommendations for structural and staffing components to consider when forming a pediatric hospice program, and explore specialty considerations in caring pediatric patients, such as those related to medications and special family, ethical, legal, and grief issues.
