The training provides Virtual (Zoom) face to face live interactive instruction from Nancy Gordon, LCSW who is a Qualified Supervisor with over 30 years of clinical practice and experience supervising in many settings and has taught this highly interactive class over 15 times. Participants will be provided with a detailed, in-depth look at the research of the major models and stages of supervision, including supervision methods and techniques. The dynamics of therapist-client and supervisor-therapist-client relationships will be explored, including challenges, accountability of both the supervisor and supervisee, and contextual variables in practice such as culture, gender, ethnicity, power and economics which may impact supervision. Attendees will have the opportunity to develop their own model of supervision with insight into the business aspects, challenges, and the role of evaluation in the supervision process. Distinctive issues that arise in supervision will also be addressed including ethical, legal, regulatory issues related to telehealth, Florida laws and rules relating to Interns and Supervisors and various electronic delivery systems for supervision and methods for ensuring confidentiality. The PowerPoint Handouts and electronic workbook of materials to assist in supervision will be provided to participants. We recommend that each participant visit the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling-Qualified Supervisor- Licensing, Renewals & Information website at http://floridasmentalhealthprofessions.gov/licensing/qualified-supervisor/ and review the qualifications for Qualified Supervisor certification.
