RX Objectives 1.Describe the most common pathogens implicated in CAP, along with risk factors for resistant organisms. 2.Discuss the treatment options for CAP, taking into consideration coexisting conditions and severity of illness. 3.Counsel patients on potential side effects of the antibiotics recommended for treatment and strategies for the prevention of CAP. Tech Objectives 1) Name 2 common pathogens that are responsible for causing CAP. Identify patient risk factors that can predispose an individual to CAP. 2) List 3 antibiotics that may be used to treat community acquired pneumonia (CAP) and discuss side effects and appropriate administration for each medication. 3) Describe strategies that can help prevent CAP.
