Managing the Patient on Home Mechanical Ventilation
Tracking # 20-866541
Course overview
The use of home invasive mechanical ventilation (HIMV) is becoming increasingly common. All rehabilitation therapists must have a working knowledge of home ventilators and how to work as a team to ensure the patient is adequately supported. This foundation module will introduce rehabilitation therapists to the indications for HIMV, monitoring systems, and settings. The role of interdisciplinary team members, including respiratory therapists and nurses, will be reviewed, including managing both the patient and equipment, monitoring, troubleshooting, providing patient and caregiver education and training, and coordinating care with the rehabilitation team.
