Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is a treatment modality designed by Francine Shapiro in the late 80s as a result of her own experiences with distressing memories she was having at the time. Since then, it has evolved into a nationally recognized form of treatment used mainly with trauma-based disorders (including PTSD) but has been expanded to other disorders since its inception. In this workshop, an introduction to and overview of this modality will be presented. Applications and limitations with various disorders and clients will also be introduced.
