Course overview

Older adults with dementia can meaningfully participate in physical therapy interventions and achieve significant improvements in strength, mobility, and quality of life. Therapy professionals who incorporate best practices in working with patients with dementia into their intervention, and who focus on what matters to that individual patient, will achieve higher rates of engagement and better outcomes. Through a series of case studies, this course models for learners how to incorporate the 4M Model into assessment and treatment interventions for patients with dementia, with the goal of maximizing a patient's function while doing what matters. Strategies to engage the care team for consistency and best practices in documentation to ensure your patient receives the appropriate dose of therapy are presented.
