Substance Use in Military and Veteran Populations

Course overview

Military service members are highly trained and ready to respond at a moment's notice to natural or human-made disasters anywhere in the world. Few people outside the military understand the culture, values, or experiences of military life. Active duty and veteran service members constitute a highly vulnerable population due to their high-risk of substance use. The information contained in this course is not an exhaustive overview of the military. Rather it will offer behavioral health providers with a basic understanding of how military life affects substance use among active duty and veteran populations.
