Course overview

A stroke, also referred to as a cerebrovascular event, is a neurological event that causes damage to the brain. Strokes are caused by a sudden interruption of blood flow to the brain and can result in severe, irreversible neurological damage. A stroke victim may permanently lose the ability to speak, walk, or live independently. Blood clots that interrupt the flow of blood to the brain and bleeding or hemorrhage in the brain are the basic causes of strokes and involve specific risk factors. Strokes can be prevented by identifying risk factors and adjustments to current lifestyle choices by making healthier choices.
