Visual Rehabilitation and Traumatic Brain Injury

Course overview

A patient who experiences visual changes after a brain injury can have a clinical presentation that mimics cognitive impairment. Occupational therapy professionals working with patients who are recovering from brain injury should be prepared to consider the impact of visual impairments on activities of daily living, and to participate in developing an interdisciplinary plan of care related to neurologically-based visual impairments. This module provides an overview of how brain injury can impact vision, the steps of a vision screen, and treatment interventions for occupational therapy professionals to employ.
