This option allows you to complete your competency skill check off: 1. Complete course review, 2. After COURSE REVIEW and Powerpoints; Select an RN or Physician to complete skills check-off (this can be done at work or at a clinic etc if you are in Florida contact C&M Gifted Hands Healthcare Institute for an RN to complete skills check), 3. Then complete the examination online... work at your own pace. If not successful, you can retake the course at no additional cost. In most States, RN, LPN/LVN, APRN/APN, or any other licensed nurse can legally collect blood using the current licensure that they have. This is a great course to refresh, enhance, maintain skills, and on completion of the course, CE credits are submitted to CE Broker towards license renewal. Purpose This course will provide the healthcare worker/ professionals, students with an understanding of Phlebotomy, the reasons for Phlebotomy, a review of the integumentary system, and how it relates to Phlebotomy. This course will also provide participants with knowledge relating to infection control, accidents/ incidents that can arise through venipuncture procedures, and to teach the learner how to handle complications when they occur, proper safety precautions with relation to handling body fluids and blood, how to prepare patients for venipuncture procedure. Review of patient identification procedures according to accepted guidelines, appropriate bedside manner, and how to prepare patients for the procedure. This course also reviews venipuncture procedures such as using Vacutainer, butterfly, and syringe methods as well as procedures for obtaining specimens via skin puncture technique and more.
