Participants will review the human animal bond, as well as human and veterinary end of life care practices, revolving around the core principles of palliative care and goal-centered care at end of life. Participants will receive basic information regarding current veterinary euthanasia guidelines and practices. Participants will be challenged to review human quality of life assessment practices, and how this may cross over into the realm of animal care when euthanasia is an option. Participants will be given information to find quality of life scoring applications for use in their practices. Participants will learn what animal hospice entails, and intricate decision-making regarding this end of life care service. Case examples will be discussed throughout.
