Apraxia expert Nancy Kaufman presents this 4-hour, comprehensive training course to teach participants step-by-step and in specific detail how to evaluate and treat children with apraxia of speech. Therapy session video clips are integrated into this course to demonstrate how Nancy implements the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol (K-SLP) to teach children with apraxia how to combine consonants and vowels into words and words into functional expressive language. The rationale for using specific stimuli at specific times during the evaluation and treatment process will be discussed, and methods for incorporating these stimuli during evaluation and treatment will be demonstrated. Participants will learn eight evidence-based strategies that address word simplification, motivation, shaping, cueing, reinforcement and feedback, and practice within the natural environment.
