Learner Objectives: Review the mechanical and physiological effects of hyperbaric oxygen treatments (HBO2). 2. Understand the absolute and relative contraindications to HBO2 and how they relate to various medical conditions. 3. Understand the rationale for modifications in various medical therapies and their implication to the safety of the patients in hyperbaric treatment. 4. Review the relative literature pertaining to the potentially toxic effects across organ systems in the hyperbaric patient. 5. Identify those elements of COVID-19 that cause its morbidity and mortality. 6. Will be able to state the effects of HBO2 on inflammation. 7. Will be able to state the impact of HBO2 on D-dimers in COVID-19. 8. To discuss the potential of HBO2 to alleviate ARDS in seriously ill patients. 9. To illustrate by case presentation the use of HBO2 in critical care medicine. 10. To suggest the need for funded controlled trials to research the effectiveness of treating respiratory distress in Covid-19 patients. 11. Understand the new supervision guidelines for HOPD. 12.
