Course overview

This course is also available as part of a larger 10.5 hour program. This 2-hour course contains modules 7 and 8. Module 7 will explore accountability from several lenses. First, we will discuss how Speech-Language Pathologists and the students they supervise are accountable within the profession. After, we will look outwards to external systems such as laws, programs or agencies that Speech-Language Pathologists are equally accountable to. These external systems vary between facility type. Finally, we will share some additional considerations such as research and evaluation as they relate specifically to accountability. Module 8 will focus on supervising students with disabilities. It is the goal of this module that supervisors and supervisees alike feel supported throughout the supervisory process and have the proper resources to turn to when facing questions along the way. Speech-Language Pathologists within the field already have a strong understanding of modifications and accommodations that can be utilized by our patients to help them reach their goals and meet the needs of their daily lives. This module applies similar concepts but aims the information specifically towards reaching the goals and meeting the needs of the SLP practicum experience.
