This course is primarily for clinicians, students and clinical educators interested in apraxia of speech in adults. The emphasis throughout is on practice. The first section covers evaluation with a focus on the perceptual and is bolstered with multiple speech samples. The second section is entitled, The Plan of Care. Its content comprises all the components of a modern treatment plan. These components include clinician knowledge, clinician and patient roles and expectations, stimulus selection, treatment's cognitive components, and scheduling. The third section describes the specifics of treatment with an emphasis on treatment's active components and on eight specific treatment approaches. Discussion includes Sound Production Therapy, Constraint-Induced Language Therapy and Communication Partners.
