This course is intended to increase the participant's ability to problem solve a range of conditions that may occur when working with patients who have indwelling tracheostomy tubes. Each problem scenario presented is based on clinician experience along with the solutions that worked in specific cases. Photos and videos are provided so that the participant can observe how tracheostomy tubes differ and how selected speaking valves function. Learn to identify symptoms that could indicate that a patient may benefit from a different type of tracheostomy tube. Discussed will be tracheostomy tube variables such as tube angle, length, flexibility, and neck plate configuration. References for related topics are included.
