Course Title: Risk Management 2 Hours Online Course Goals or Purpose: This course is designed to provide the clinician with an introduction to the essentials of risk management. The course reviews the principles of Chiropractic risk management strategies. The program introduces the Doctor of Chiropractic to issues of identifying, reducing and preventing malpractice, patient harm and the duties of the healthcare provider. Learning Objectives/Outcomes: The course is designed to provide the practicing chiropractor state required continuing education credits for postgraduate education. The purpose of the program is to bolster the knowledge of the clinician on the principles and protocols that identify, limit and prevent risk to the Chiropractic practice. The program will explore professionalism, the standard of care, scope of practice, ethics, malpractice litigation, and proper documentation. The course places emphasis on the unique requirements of the Chiropractic practice. Description of Content: The course introduces the clinician to risk management strategies. The program will review charting issues, doctor-patient communication, professional behavior, representation of the Chiropractic profession and methods to evert malpractice claims. There will be a summary of ethical conflicts, documentation requirements and proper patient management. Prior Level of Knowledge, Skill, or Experience Needed for Participation: This program is an intermediate course designed as an adjunct to general chiropractic practice.
