Nutrition 207: Microbiota and the Musculoskeletal System
Tracking # 20-891963
Course overview
Large segments of human populations suffer from acute and chronic pain syndromes. There has been a growing body of research looking at the gut microbiota as a focal point for chronic illness. This also includes how gut flora may affect the incidence and course of musculoskeletal disease, through various mechanisms of modulating pain and inflammation. Although human trials are limited, they do suggest that manipulation of the gut flora may help in the management of these syndromes.
