Course overview

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) a virus that is believed to infect humans for the first time in 2019. Once a person is infected, he or she may acquire Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The symptoms of this disease are potentially serious, even deadly. Healthcare workers are particularly at risk of transmission because of their workplace exposure to COVID-19. This course discusses the emergence of SARS-CoV-2, how SARS-CoV-2 eventually infected, and how viral exposure affected populations worldwide, leading to a pandemic.
