Course overview

It is common for patients entering the healthcare system to experience increased stress and some degree of emotional discomfort. Usually, these individuals are presenting with a serious illness, significant pain, or trauma. They may or may not know their diagnosis. Even when patients come to a hospital for joyful reasons, such as having a baby, there can be worry accompanying the excitement until the outcome is clear. Families and friends of patients have their own worries and concerns about their loved ones.
