Course overview
This course is designed to describe the challenges facing older adults who want to age in place and to offer solutions in the form of adaptive equipment and home modifications. Learners will gain an understanding of the common impairments older adults face as they age and factors to consider when modifying the bedroom and bathroom to support each patient's ability to age in place. The course describes both minor and major modifications and available equipment to maximize safety and function, along with community resources and specialists to assist with home modifications. Brief case scenarios and solutions for adapting the client's home to fit their needs are presented.
