Understanding the venous circulatory system and venous leg ulcer (VLU) etiology is fundamental to VLU prevention and treatment. Holistic assessment is required to identify an appropriate plan of care. The application of critical thinking skills for decision making promotes evidence-based treatment to impact outcomes. Consistent, definitive, and descriptive documentation is the communication tool used by all healthcare providers to monitor progress and revise the plan of care as needed. Nursing has a pivotal role in this challenging and complex process. In this course, you will learn about lower extremity venous disease (LEVD) and the assessment, documentation, treatment, and prevention of VLUs.The goal of this course is to educate nurses in any healthcare setting about LEVD and the assessment, documentation, treatment, and prevention of VLUs.
