The Funeral Rule went into effect on April 30, 1984. For many, it was seen as a nuisance, more paper work dictated by the government and a way to interfere with business. For those who have come into funeral service after the "Rule" went into effect, working with the "Rule" should be second nature. Whatever your feelings are, the reality is you must comply with the Funeral Rule and this compliance should be second nature. The Funeral Rule was designed to help consumers make informed choices at a very difficult time in their lives. Your compliance with the Funeral Rule helps make better-informed, better-educated consumers. The Federal Trade Commission reports that there are still many funeral homes woefully out of compliance. Your failure to comply with the "Rule" may result in hefty fines, for you and your staff in mandatory training programs offered through the Funeral Rule Offender Program (FROP). This course will assist you in understanding the "Rule", how easily you can be in compliance, and eliminate many of the misunderstandings regarding the "Rule".
