This concise course explores diagnostic, prescriptive, and medication management issues, and follow up related to children and adolescents who struggle with depression, bipolar disorders, anxiety, psychotic disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, Tourette's syndrome, conduct disorders, eating disorders, and substance abuse. Course Objectives: * Differentiate major depression from normal life responses, and identify issues in the management of anti-depressants and instruction needed by patients taking these medications. * Differentiate bipolar disorder from other causes of manic symptoms, and to identify issues in the use of medications to treat the disorder and instruction for patients taking these medications. * Recognize causes of psychiatric illnesses and their implication for the use of psychotropic medications.
