Nutrition Counseling for Adolescents & Young Adults

You just don't understand! - Who hasn't been subjected to the challenges of working with a teenager? Adolescents undergo a tremendous period of physical and psychological growth, are faced with health challenges, and need nutrition guidance. In the midst of rampant nutrition misinformation, pressure from peers, parents, food advertisers, and social media, young adults are at high risk for developing disordered eating, obesity, poor nutrient intake, and other unhealthy behaviors. This course is designed to provide clinicians with the specialized knowledge needed to effectively counsel and educate 12- to 24-year-olds in order to promote positive behavior change. Screening tools, sample assessments, treatment plans, and suggested responses to difficult counseling situations reinforce the principles covered.
