Course overview

Healthcare unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) are utilized to provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living to individuals in homes, assisted living programs, residential care facilities, and many private non-medical institutions, across the United States. These staff members should have a basic understanding of our respiratory system and the types of therapies used in the treatment of respiratory disorders and symptoms. This course will review the normal respiratory system, signs of respiratory distress, use of a pulse oximeter, inhalers, nebulizers, oxygen administration, and CPAP set up.
