In 2020, 62.6 million Americans were enrolled in Medicare and generated costs of about 926 billion dollars (Yang, 2020). This made Medicare the single, largest payer for healthcare services in the U.S. Making sense of Medicare can be difficult. However, it is vital for you to have a basic understanding of Medicare. This will enhance the guidance you provide to those in your care and improve your role as an advocate. In this course, you will learn about the basic parts of Medicare. The services provided under each part of Medicare will be reviewed along with helpful enrollment tips. The goal of this course is to teach general staff in acute and post-acute care settings the basics of Medicare insurance.
