GAC: Endocrine Conditions

Course overview

This course is part of a series to aid in preparation for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner exam. Often, endocrine conditions are sufficiently managed in the outpatient setting; however, there are occasions leading to acute care needs. The purpose of this course is to review endocrine disorders common among the adult-gerontology population within the acute care setting. This content is designed for the entry-level nurse practitioner and encompasses both acute and chronic management. This course should provide skills in managing primary endocrine diagnoses, as well as comorbid chronic endocrine conditions. Lastly, this course will go beyond anatomically based disorders and explore the role of the endocrine system in both acute and critical illness. The goal of this course is to review advanced practice nurses in the acute care setting with information about common endocrine disorders. This course is not affiliated with the American Nurses Credentialing Center Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) board certification examination.
