Course overview

This introductory course is designed to provide an overview of spinal cord injury (SCI) and typical impairments a rehabilitation therapist would evaluate when treating an individual who has experienced an SCI. The recovery process and transition to home, work, and daily life is a complex process involving many members of the healthcare team and requires a multidisciplinary approach to be successful. An understanding of how to prevent and manage secondary complications from SCI can lead to better outcomes and decreased utilization of healthcare resources and costs.
