The Impact of Parental Substance Use Disorders on Children and Families

Course overview

This course will provide insight and information about the ways in which children and families are affected by parental substance use disorders. You will explore the ways a substance use disorder can impact a parents ability to care for their children and how this can negatively affect childrens development and functioning well into adulthood. In addition, you will explore the family dynamics that can develop when one or both parents are involved in alcohol and or drug use. Finally, you will explore various treatment models for children and families living in these circumstances.
