Course overview
This course is for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses and other Interdisciplinary Health Team Members who are seeking autonomous practice or advanced certification continuing education credits. Cariprazine is a second-generation, atypical antipsychotic used as primary treatment for schizophrenia, and to treat manic or mixed episodes in patients who have bipolar I disorder. The following sections discuss the pharmacological profile of cariprazine, its labeled and off-label uses, warnings and precautions associated with the use of cariprazine and contraindications. These discussions are expanded in the clinical pearls section. There is a review of cariprazine overdose followed by a review of cariprazine in the case study section.
