Course overview

This course will help mental health practitioners to become familiar with current psychotherapeutic medications. Further it will provide information to help patients and their families understand how and why medications can be used as part of the treatment of mental health problems. It is important to be informed about medications currently in use. Learning Objectives: 1. Gain knowledge of psychotherapeutic medications and their uses. 2. Create an understanding of antipsychotic, antimanic, antidepressant and antianxiety medications. 3. Obtain knowledge regarding medications for special groups such as children and the elderly.
