Addressing Underachievement in School

Course overview

Participants will be able to list ten groups of students who are at risk for underachieving in school or as adults, will be able to assess youth and adults for Learning Disabilities, ADHD, and emotional blocks to learning, will be able to educate teachers on having a growth mindset, having a trauma-sensitive classroom, and using the latest research to improve the performance of SLD youth, will be able to detail empirically based individual interventions including cognitive restructuring, self- calming and Executive Function skills, and will be able to describe family interventions for underachievement including Parent Child Interaction Therapy and Family Problem Solving.
