Course overview
This course provides an in-depth review of the gluteal muscles, actions, and issues that arise when they are dormant. Discussion includes the causes of Dormant Butt Syndrome (DBS), how DBS negatively affects the spine and hips, and how to reverse DBS. Exercises from frail aging adults to intermediate adults are reviewed as well as advancing exercises for the average individual. This course is intended to instruct and educate the healthcare professional on how the gluteals become dormant as well as appropriate exercise progression to reverse dormant gluteals. Topics range from how to engage the glutes to functional strength for activities such as standing from a seated position, stairs, and floor transfers utilizing unilateral glute training in lunges.
