Non-suicidal Self-directed Violence Interventions

Course overview

This training is designed to describe self-harm and non-suicidal self-directed violent behaviors and to introduce intervention techniques such as negative replacement techniques, mindful breathing, written and verbal interventions to new staff. This training is also designed to guide participants in effective communication practices with someone who is engaging in self-directed violence. Training Objectives: 1. Identify what self harm/ Non-suicidal self injurious behavior is 2. Identify the causes and form of SH/NSSI 3. Discuss and practice intervention strategies 4. Discuss effective communication practices with an individual who is NSSI
