PHARMACIST and TECHNICIAN OBJECTIVES 1. Describe the role of the pharmacist inpharmacokinetic consultationsforaminoglycosides (AMG). Identify the clinically relevant pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic(PK/PK) characteristics of AMGsoAssociaterelevant PK/PD to therapeutic drug monitoring targets. 2. Compare and contrast the roles and methodology of conventional dosing, pulsed dosing, and extended interval dosing strategies for amikacin, tobramycin, and gentamicinin adult patients. 3. Evaluate the impactof special populations on dosing considerations of AMGs. 4. Design safe and effective AMG drug therapy regimens based on indication, PK/PD, optimal dosing strategies, and special population considerations.
