Course overview

This course discusses the use of language as a determining factor in outcome. Though previous research showed mixed results, the authors hypothesized that use of the word "we" was predictive for greater days abstinent. Communal coping and togetherness are believed facilitate better treatment outcomes. And the use of "we" and decreased use of "I" or "you' are indicative of better communal coping and togetherness, then it sans to reason these pronouns can be prediction. These observations are correlational, not causal. A detailed explanation of methodology is included.
