Course overview
Compassion fatigue is a condition characterized by emotional and physical exhaustion leading to a diminished ability to empathize or feel compassion for others, often described as the negative cost of caring. It is sometimes referred to as secondary traumatic stress or burnout. It is especially relevant to mental health and substance abuse professionals. Compassion fatigue describes the physical, emotional, and psychological impact of helping others. This course will explore where this can occur, signs of compassion fatigue, and how to help yourself and others.
