Course overview

This course examines the substance use and mental health indications in the US in 2019. It includes: Alcohol, tobacco and Kratom use in the past month, illicit drug use in the past year of the following drugs: marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, hallucinogen, inhalant, misuse of psychotherapeutic drugs, stimulant misuse, tranquilizer or sedative misuse, benzodiazepine misuse, pain reliever misuse, and opioid misuse, as well as initiation, and SUD in the past year of the same substances. It covers perceived risk of all age groups, major depressive episode in the past year, any mental illness in the past year, SMI in the past year, co-occurring MDE and SUD, co-occurring mental health issues and SUD, substance use in adults by mental illness status, suicidal thoughts and behavior among adults, substance use treatment in the past year, mental health service use in the past year, receipt of services for co-occurring substance use disorder and mental health issues, and perceived recovery. The course is statistic intensive.
