Course overview

This course explores Shen in many contexts: Shen as extra-ordinary, that which is beyond yin and yang; Shen as the most subtle of the three treasures; Shen as vitality/life. Its functions; Its significance in individuals and its relation with the psycho-emotional disorders. We also examine the Hun and po and their relation with jing and shen. Their clinical use is shown in conditions such as lost contact with reality, anorexia, obsessive thought, somatic disorders, and violent behavior.
