Course overview
Participants will be able to list the 24 core competencies for working with suicidal clients, as listed by the Suicide Prevention Resource Center, will be able to name 12 risk factors, 5 activating events and 9 protective factors relevant to suicidality, will be able to assess when hospitalization is recommended using Bryan and Rudds indicators of imminent risk for suicide, will be able to use interventions from Jobes Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality, Rudds Brief CBT, Linehans Dialectical Behavior Therapy with suicidal clients, will be able to describe assessment and treatment modifications useful in interacting with clients of different ages, and will be able to document working with suicidal clients to increase clinical effectiveness and reduce legal risk.
