Course overview
Understand the basis for multiple bands in a patient with monoclonal gammopathy. Know the effects of multimeric immunoglobulins on serum protein electrophoresis (SPEP) and serum immunofixation electrophoresis (SIFE) Understand the basis for diagnosing light chain predominant multiple myeloma. Be able to evaluate the role of serum free light chains in the patients with and without monoclonal gammopathy. Understand the basis for immunosubtraction in improving the resolution of SPEP and SIFE.
