Course overview
Nutrition for the healthy horse is fairly straightforward; however, in the equine patient, a more scientific and clinical case approach is often needed. This presentation will offer an overview of the science behind nutrition and medical conditions of the horse, offer case studies of certain clinical conditions, as well as focus on the specific needs of the performance horse including guidelines to assist the equine veterinarian or veterinary technician in determining the best feeding options. Discussions will explore the pathophysiology of these conditions to better understand the role that nutrition can play in not only helping the athletic performance horse, but also our everyday equine companions and patients.
