In this course students will learn about motivational enhancement strategies that help clients with substance abuse problems increase motivation for change. The five stages of change are addressed together with skills that the clinicians implement to treat clients with presenting substance abuse problems. Students will learn to recognize how to address client ambivalence to change and how to enhance motivation for change in clients.
