In the US, PPH accounts for 11% of maternal deaths and is the leading cause of death on the day of birth. PPH accounts for 15% of maternal injury claims. This is the second of 13 modules within our PPH series focused on physiologic adaptations that increase a woman's risk of PPH; risk reduction strategies and recommendations to decrease PPH-related malpractice allegations are highlighted.
