Course overview

Students will learn about the goals of clinical supervision; how clinical supervision ensures that counselors continue to increase their skills, which in turn increases treatment effectiveness, client retention, and staff satisfaction; the roles of the clinical supervisor in the context of the supervisory relationship which include: teacher, consultant, coach, and mentor; the importance of keeping record of supervision sessions to include at least when supervision was conducted, what was discussed, and what recommendations were provided by the supervisor and what actions resulted; and the steps that enhance the supervision experience.
